Dance Class

I signed up for an online deal. 6 weeks of dance classes for $39.  I put Kevin in Hip Hop and Kyla in "princess dancing".  I read all the reviews and looked at the studio and it looked like a lot of fun.  Kevin loves to dance and has wanted to take dancing lessons, so he was really excited.  Kyla was THRILLED about taking a princess dancing class and has not stopped talking about it.  She dances at home non stop.  We constantly hear, "Mom/Dad watch me dance" at home.  Well .....

when we got there she started to cry. When I pushed her into the classroom and they closed the door, she started to bawl and when they started dancing and asked her to join, she freaked out!  It is a small room so no parents are allowed in but one whole wall is a window so we can watch and they can see us.  About 20 minutes in Kyla stopped crying and just sat and watched.  Anytime the teacher (who was amazing with her) asked if she wanted to try, she would break down in tears again.  Finally after 40 minutes the teacher told Kyla that she didn't have to do anything and could just watch. Kyla was so relieved and actually started to laugh and dance a little when no one was looking at her.  We had a long talk in the car and she decided that if I painted her nails before next class she would be a big girl and dance!!

Kevin LOVED his class.  They start with a fun warm-up/stretch, then teach a few dance moves, then read a story and then dress the kids up and work on their dance moves they learned earlier (they dressed up as rapunzel in Kyla's class)  He came out of class beaming he was so happy.  He thought it was really fun and was excited to go again.  The only time I don't like living in a small town is when I think of all the great dance, music, sport classes that the kids are missing out on.

So 1 week down and 5 more to go.  After 5 weeks I will have to have Kev show off some of his new moves.  And hopefully sometime during the next 5 weeks they can actually get Kyla to move!

Kevin's 1st day of 1st Grade!

Kevin was SO excited this morning.  He came in at 7:am and said, "Mom
I have my new shoes on and my new pants and my new belt and my Ninjago
shirt. Should I brush my teeth and then eat or eat and then brush my
teeth?"
He helped me pack his lunch and picked a peanut butter and jelly
sandwich over a cheese sandwich?!? Totally unheard of for Kevin :o)
He was excited to see Kyen, his best friend. They are in the same
class this year.  When his school line started walking into the
building he looked back and waved and looked a little nervous but
happy. I was not the only Mom crying, there were alot of Moms crying
as their little babies walked away.
Nick gave him a blessing last night and told Kevin that he would be
able to understand all of the new rules and that he would learn to
love learning this year.
We are very proud of Kevin and what a big boy he is.  He is very smart
and has such a sweet heart.  I am excited to pick him up in a few
hours and find out all about his day!

Veteran's Day Parade

Last year we missed the parade because the kids were at my parent's home and we woke up too late to go get them.  This year we were dressed and ready and waiting for the parade.  Nick doesn't really care for parades but I Love parades of any kind and the kids seem to take after me.

Luckily it wasn't very cold so we could really enjoy the parade!

The boys were so excited for it to start.  They kept looking down the road and asking, "is it coming yet?".  Once the helicopter flew over and the Parade started coming down the road the boys jumped up and down.

Of course Nick's favorite part of the parade was when Metro drove down the road.  He made sure the boys were just as excited as he was to watch the lights.

Wyatt was Totally excited about the candy.  We had to watch him very carefully because he wanted to run right up to the cars and grab the candy right from the people who were throwing it.

One of the EMTs was handing out fire hats.  Wyatt LOVED his!  He wore his the rest of the day and even slept in it that night.  I kept thinking he was going to flip the elastic and hit himself in the face but he was very careful.

I won't rant about the lady and her kids that were right next to us.  But if you go to a parade please be mindful of everyone around you and DON'T STAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND GLARE AT MY 3 YEAR OLD WHEN YOUR 13 YEAR OLD RUNS HIM OVER TRYING TO GET CANDY!!!!!

Kevin had so much fun.  He liked his fireman hat but not as much as Wyatt.  He was a big helper and protected Wyatt from the crazy family we were standing next to.  He would pick up candy and hand it to Wyatt when he didn't get any.

Mekyla never left her Daddy's side.  She liked seeing all the floats and cars go by and she loved the candy that her brothers kept bringing to her but she just didn't want to leave Daddy.
David was a good boy.  He didn't fuss at all.  He seemed to enjoy the outing.  He sat on Nick's lap and just stared at everything.  David is very aware of things going on around him.  He is always just calmly sitting and watching.  Thank you to all the wonderful heroes who have fought for our country and our freedom.  We are forever grateful for your courage and sacrifice.

Skate Park

Moki and my Mom are gone window painting so we met up with Uncle Arfur and the boys to go play at the skate park.

The boys LOVE running up the ramps, sitting on the edge, counting down together and then ...

sliding down.  Their clothes are always filthy but they have a blast.  I'm sure that all too soon they will have their bikes out there and be doing jumps that will make me cringe!  I am so glad that my kids have cousins close by that they get along with so well.
The Villezcas' had their puppy there and Mekyla does NOT like when animals touch her.  She likes them to hold perfectly still and let her touch them.  If they move at all or even look at her, she cries and runs for safety!

Grace's Baptism

Grace was baptised today during the Stake baptisms and she asked me to give the talk on the Holy Ghost.  Everyone, including Nick and except for me was shocked that she would pick me.  I think I did a good job and Grace seemed to be happy with the things I gave her as part of my talk.  We are very proud of you Grace!

After the baptism we went to Jones' and there was a HUGE scorpion in her yard!!  I Hate scorpions and didn't want any of the kids near it, but they all followed Nick out into the desert to drop it off.  I would been much happier if he had squished it but he refused.

We have given Wyatt multiple baths since Halloween but his hair is still orange!  I thought the Blue in Kevin's hair would stain but it didn't.  I giggle every time I look at him because he looks so cute with orange hair!
